CareerNet, a resource available to the MVNU community since November 2015, has undergone changes and upgrades to assist students and alumni.
CareerNet is an online program that provides users access to job postings, internship opportunities and part-time work.
The recent update enables more postings and better accessibility than the previous job posting system. Through CareerNet, all employers can post positions and internships by registering on the system.
Job hunters will find numerous new postings each week on CareerNet. They can search through these postings based on job type and category.
Students can also post resumes for review by Coordinator of Career Development Gary Swisher. After approval, students can upload their resumes to be seen by all potential employers.
“I will be working to create more opportunities for our students to locate
internships in the area — which means fewer would have to travel to Columbus or other areas, and more students may be able to do internships during the school year.” Swisher said.
CareerSpots is another resource for those searching for employment.
CareerSpots are instructional videos that cover various topics like tailoring a resume and cover letter, making the most of an internship, conducting oneself in an interview and other job search strategies.
The videos are viewable on the Career Development web pages. Just visit mvnu. edu/career, and click on “Traditional Students” or “GPS Students” to gain access.
The videos are also incorporated into various pages throughout the website to enhance understanding and continuity.
Students and alumni are encouraged to take advantage of the program as they begin their career paths or look for new opportunities.
