CareerFest 2017 will take place Friday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.
CareerFest provides full-time job and internship opportunities for professionally-focused students.
Seniors, juniors and even sophomores are encouraged to register for CareerFest to enhance their chances of starting their career or landing an internship this summer.
“CareerFest covers a broad spectrum of professional fields and college programs, including various majors in business, natural sciences, communication arts, health and human services, and even ministry,” said Gary Swisher, coordinator of career services.
CareerFest offers students the opportunity to develop their interactive skills and speak with recruiters in their field who are specifically seeking college students and graduates.
“This is a huge event with over 100 employers from all over Ohio,” Swisher said. “Organizations include everything from Fortune 500 companies to small non-profits.”
According to Swisher, many notable employers will attend, including Cardinal Health, AEP, City Year, DFAS, Franklin County Children's Services, Huntington National Bank, Nationwide Insurance, Ohio State Highway Patrol, U.S Department of State and Youthworks.
The Career Development office will provide a database of employers and their specific needs in recruiting.
A small number of graduate schools will also be on hand to promote their graduate programs, Swisher said.
Students interested in participating in CareerFest 2017 are encouraged to use the resources offered by the Career Development office, located in the library.
Swisher and his team are working to review resumes, host prep sessions and register students for the event. Students who wish to speak directly to a career adviser can drop in anytime on Tuesday, Feb. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m., or make an appointment at their convenience.
CareerFest registration and entry are free to students and alumni.
Class absences can be excused for students planning to attend.
MVNU will provide transportation to those who register. However, seating is limited.
