Doan drives tennis program

MVNU class of 2016 graduate Daniel Doan has been hired as the new coach of the restarted tennis program. Doan graduated with a degree in Communication and a minor in youth ministry.

He has been playing tennis for only eight years, but he is well-versed in the sport. Doan said he fell in love with the game of tennis as a high school freshman.

He played for Triway High School in Wooster, Ohio. During his high school play he was an All-Conference honoree all four years.

His team holds the record for most single season wins in Triway history, and Doan is third in individual career wins in the school’s history.

As an active member of the United States Tennis Association, Doan competes with a national tennis rating of 4.0 – 4.5. He recently completed his Personal Training Registry certification for coaching as an Associate Instructor.

Doan said his experience and positive communication style will be a great asset in building the new program.

During his last year of school at MVNU, he was urged to apply for the opening by both peers and mentors.

“Already having a love for the game and a passion for connecting with others, it seemed like a great opportunity,” Doan said.

Doan has already established high goals for himself and the program as a whole.

“It’s my vision to do a good job at recruiting and navigating the athletes efficiently,” he said. “My long-term goal is to build the program up so that it’s viewed as an honest, integrity filled, competitive program that will receive recognition for its potential growth down the road.”
