MVNU track team competes outdoors for first time

Members of MVNU’s inaugural track and field team kicked off their first outdoor season with a trip to an invitational hosted by NCAA Division I school Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina.

Junior Josh Richardson turned in an impressive second-place finish in the men’s 10,000-meter run to highlight day one of the three-day event.

Sophomore Rebekah Mullins kicked off day two for MVNU in the women’s mile run with a top four performance.

The third day of the meet focused on field events.

Freshman Sam Nordquist was the top finisher for the Cougars in the long jump, placing sixth with a mark of 6.25m in the field of 26 competitors.

Neither the men’s nor the women’s team placed in the final standings.

Both teams will be back in the Buckeye state this weekend for the Cedarville University invitational.

The teams will compete in four more meets before the Crossroads League championships at Goshen College in Indiana in late April.
