Cougar golfers claim victory in home invitational
The MVNU men’s golf team continued their successful spring season with a team win last week at the Cougars Spring Invitational.
The team’s second win of the season was also its fourth top three finish of the year.
Charlie Phillips took top honors, shooting rounds of 69 and 68 for a final score of 137, good for 7 under par.
Tyler Alexander and Sean Thomas also finished in the top 10, ranked third and tied for eighth respectively.
The Cougars followed up the victory with a sixth-place finish at Huntington, which was called for rain after one round.
Monday’s invitational at Indiana Wesleyan ended in a second-place finish, with Phillips also in second in the individual standings.
MVNU and Phillips each ended their seasons with a second place finish in the Crossroads League Tournament on Monday and Tuesday.
