New Taco Bell — could it be the best thing ever?
“This is going to be the best thing ever!!!”
That was my initial thought when they first announced they were building a second Taco Bell in Mount Vernon, only about a mile from the MVNU campus.
But then, I started to actually think about it.
I am a self-proclaimed Taco Bell enthusiast (aren’t we all?). I love Taco Bell so much that I even compare the prices of other purchases (shoes, for instance) to the price of tacos. So, instead of saying something costs $5 or $10, I measure the cost of an item by how many tacos I could’ve bought with that money (5 and 10, if you get plain tacos).
However, I have mixed feelings about this new location.
Sure, it will be great having a Taco Bell that I could potentially walk to (even though I won’t), but I would have much rather seen the appearance of a fast food chain we don’t have.
Mount Vernon already has two Wendys, three McDonald’s, and approximately 25 Subways. What we need is something new.
I really would rather see the addition of a Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, Raising Cane’s or any other popular chain we do not have in Knox County. Those are all places I think that both Naz students and the general population of Mount Vernon would frequent.
Even though I don’t think the second Taco Bell is necessary, I, along with most other students, will probably go to the new one more often, since it is more convenient.
