Meet the new Director of Campus Life

Rochel Furniss took the short walk from the chapel to campus center for her new position. Although the distance is short the difference in responsibility is great. However, her mission remains the same:

reaching students.

Furniss is an MVNU Alum and has been a faculty member for 10 years. She previously worked in the Chapel as the Administrative Assistant to the VP of University Advancement . Now she is the new Director of Campus Life.

She now has her hand in everything campus life related like SGA, campus ministries, clubs and overall student involvement.

Her goal in this new position is to bring the campus together.

“The biggest thing for me is to connect students, that’s what I think it’s all about and why I’m excited for this position,” said Furniss.

This is the main reason she came back to MVNU a year after she graduated in 2005. Furniss is looking forward to interacting with students on campus, and giving back to the school that gave her such an amazing experience when she was a student.

“There were people here that spoke into my life incredibly and it was a great time of transformation in my life, and to think I have the opportunity to do that for others was really what I was looking for,” said Furniss.

With this in mind Furniss wants to incorporate the students. She wants to talk to them and hear what they have to say. Feedback is a goal. Good or bad she wants to hear the student’s opinions on the best way to build connections on campus.

Furniss is excited to achieve this goal with the help of SGA.

“They are a diverse group and that is their biggest strength.”

She is grateful for a group of students who share the same desire for this campus and who are interested in what the student body wants.

Furniss says she is intrigued to see what God has in store for this campus for the 2015-2016 school year.
