Girls grace Guyana

Director of Community and International Ministries Catie Hayes led a group of 13 MVNU students to Guyana over spring break to start what she hopes will become a long-term MVNU ministry. They travelled to a small village in Guyana’s jungle called Orealla.

Four men from Guyana also teamed up with the all-female crew alongside Pastor David from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The team worked tirelessly to pour concrete, landscape and weave baskets to help provide an income for the villagers. They also took part in a “Children’s Crusade” Bible camp.

“The relationships that were made with the village and with the children will last a life time,” sophomore Caitlin McBrayer said.

The girls agreed that the strenuous work and playing with the children made a big impact on their lives.

“One of the biggest things I took away was the importance of using my opportunities to further God’s Kingdom,” McBrayer said. “I am using my knowledge to spread the love of God.”
