Event will raise money for Escape Zone programs

The Escape Zone will be team up with MVNU students and several community groups to raise money for the teens of Mount Vernon.

The fund-raiser, a spaghetti dinner, will take place Dec. 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene. Money raised will be contributed toward the operating budget for Escape Zone programs.

As a non-profit, the Escape Zone exists to give students from middle through high school a safe place to learn and have fun.

Escape Zone leaders and volunteers are in the process of renovating the former Ohio National Guard Armory on Mansfield Avenue for their new location. The building hadn’t been used for more than 20 years.

The old armory has 13,000 square feet, and includes a gymnasium on the second floor. The Escape Zone currently operates out of a much smaller building downtown on South Main Street.
