Meet the members of SGA

Get to know the faces of your Student Government Association! We asked them a few questions so that we could learn a little bit more about the people behind the campus events.

Q: What is your name?

A: Caleb Ledford

Q: What is your position on SGA?

A: Intramural chairperson

Q: What is your major and year?

A: Senior Mechanical Engineering

Q: Why did you want to be on SGA?

A: I wanted to be on SGA because I like sports, I like meeting new people and helping them get involved, and I want all the students at MVNU to have as good of an experience as possible.

Q: What are your personal goals for your position?

A: My goals personally are to get as many people involved in intramurals, and make them a perfect combination of fun and competitive for all different kinds of people. I want to have something available for everyone and make it really really good quality.

Q: What do you want to see SGA as a whole accomplish over the next year?

A: What I would like to see SGA do mostly mirrors my reasoning for being on in the first place. To help others get involved, learn to serve and not just consume all the time, and to see things from every student's perspective. The better we can relate to each student and understand them, the better we can serve.

Q: What do you like to do for fun on the weekends?

A: I love playing basketball, volleyball, Spikeball on the weekends. Also going to church, watching football, and playing games.

Q:What is your name?

A: Jay Zollars

Q: What is your position on SGA?

A: VP of Christian Life

Q: What is your major and year?A: Senior Pastoral Ministries Major

Q: Why did you want to be on SGA?

A: I wanted to be on SGA because of the potential I see in the students on this campus. There are so many students with incredible ideas and amazing talents, but they don't know what to do with them. Being on SGA provides a way for me to be a voice for those students. In my previous role it was specifically to those students who wanted to share the story of God in their life. Now, in my new role, that voice is much broader.

Q: What are your personal goals for your position?

A: My personal goals have certainly changed. I would say my first priority or goal is to exemplify Christ in this role. It is a privilege to be where I am and I want to make sure that I am reflecting Christ in all ways. Other goals I have this year are to be more intentional about listening to students, and to shift the identity of the SGA student lounge. Our goal is for that to be a comfortable place for everyone to hang out. This idea stems from our goal as a team to be intentionally inclusive.

Q: What do you want to see SGA as a whole accomplish over the next year?

A: SGA has goals in regard to events and creating fun opportunities for students. I would say though that if SGA represents Christ, listens to students, serves students and seeks to build community then we will have accomplished great things. This doesn't just happen. This must be intentional.

Q: What do you like to do for fun on the weekends?

A: On the weekends I love to go to the athletic events, play tennis golf, or snowboard in the winter.

Q: What is your name?

A: Noah Torralba (but will answer to "John Cena Jr". or "The Guy Who Looks Like Joel Mott" or "Jenesis’ Brother” or "Time Magazine’s Person of the Year: 2006")

Q: What is your position on SGA?

A: Media Chairperson. I was expecting a chair to be given to me upon my hiring but all I got was a gift card to IKEA.

Q: What is your major and year?

A: Graphic Design & 2. But if we’re talking “Year" as in “What year do the Jonas Brothers expect everyone to be living underwater?” then I’m gonna have to go with 3000.

Q: Why did you want to be on SGA?

A: I actually thought SGA was a petition for “Save Great Apes” but it actually turned out to be something totally different and now I’m too far in to back out now.

Q: What are your personal goals for your position?

A: To not get fired.

Q: What do you want to see SGA as a whole accomplish over the next year?
