Lady Cougars defeat Goshen

The Lady Cougars volleyball team ended the week with a win over Goshen University on Friday (25-23, 25-10, 25-17).

The victory improved the team’s record to 20-2 on the season and 9-1 in league play. Sophomore Kristen Osborn powered the Lady Cougars’ offense with 15 kills on the night.

“Goshen is a great team, and I was really happy with how we worked together, especially in making scrappy plays that kept the ball alive,” Osborn said. She added that the Lady Cougars plan to focus on consistency and improving on fundamentals heading into their matchup at Spring Arbor University on Tuesday.

“We closed the game out well. It was great to get a win,” coach Paul Swanson said. “When Goshen is playing well, they’re a tough team to beat.”

The Cougars look to continually get better as conference play picks up.

“It’s about being competitive, mature, and eager to compete every night, and I think our players will be that,” Swanson said.

Senior Annelise Rohrer added 14 kills in the Cougars’ 20th win of the season. Junior Ashley Gingerich led the way for the Cougars defensively with 21 digs. The Cougars will travel to Spring Arbor on Tuesday.
