Seniors make MVNU history for the Lady Cougars

The women’s cross country seniors wrap up their careers at MVNU. Seniors Annie Winkler, Jessica Habegger and Emily Williams made history, leading their team to a third place finish in the Crossroads League Championships.

Annie Winkler received All-Crossroads League honors and set a new record for the MVNU cross-country program. She was first Lady Cougar to qualify and compete in the NAIA National Championship.

The three seniors are grateful for the opportunity to run for MVNU. They look back on the family environment that created a solid foundation for their time at MVNU.

“My favorite part of being an athlete at MVNU was the group of people I was automatically accepted into from the day I moved in” said Williams. “My teammates have been my biggest support group, my motivation, and my source of encouragement through every single obstacle and accomplishment in my four years here.”

Running is a mental game and the seniors have found the sport inspirational. They have enjoyed pushing themselves beyond their capabilities and finding success as individuals and as a team.

Their teammates and coaches have helped push each one to do their best and the seniors are very grateful for their support.

When asked what she would say to her team Williams responded with encouragement.

“Keep setting your goals high, never limit yourself, and remember who you are both on the course and off. Much love to you all and best of luck in the many years to come,” said Williams.
