Women's golf ready for 2016
The Lady Cougar golf team is readying for another round.
The Lady Cougars made great progress last year, and look to continue that progress in the 2016-17 season.
“A big goal for the Lady Cougars this year is to have the top four averages be in the 80s,” coach Mike King said.
Senior Brittany Smith has done just that and has landed herself in the record books with the lowest single round in MVNU history with 83. She also has three more of the lowest rounds with a score of 84 and two rounds of 86.
Fellow senior Andrea Martin has also made MVNU history during her MVNU career with four rounds of 87.
As a group, last year’s team members landed themselves in the record books with four of the seven lowest team rounds.
King said the women have the ability to do even more this season.
“One of the biggest keys for the women’s success will be for them to become more consistent from round to round,” King said.
The Lady Cougars return all six of their golfers from last year and are joined by freshman Olivia Albrecht from Carrollton High School.
The women kicked off their season at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational last Friday and Saturday with a seventh-place finish.
