Lady Cougars finish two Crossroads league wins

The MVNU women’s soccer team (8-6) picked up a pair of wins last week, edging the University of Saint Francis 1-0 on Wednesday and topping Huntington University 1-0 on Saturday.

“The girls have been working their socks off since August,” coach Daniel Seiffert said. “I’m really proud for them to be rewarded for their efforts.”

On Wednesday, the Lady Cougars were held scoreless for the first 81 minutes of play. In the 82nd minute, senior Allison Paley found the back of the net to give MVNU its eighth win of the season. Junior Madi Moore recorded her first shutout of the week.

“We got the results we wanted. We never stopped and it was a great game,” senior captain Allison Paley said.

The Lady Cougars added another win on Saturday at Huntington University. MVNU was held scoreless for most of the game until junior Kamryn Courtright broke the tie with a goal in the 74th minute. Moore recorded her second shutout of the week.

The Cougars will head to Spring Arbor University on Tuesday for a 7 P.M. match.
