Groveyard returning tomorrow

Get ready to be spooked! Groveyard is returning to MVNU for the second year.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to join SGA tomorrow, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grove.

There will be s’mores, apple cider, hot chocolate and a haunted trail to celebrate the fall season.

The Groveyard trail was well received last year, and SGA hopes to make this year better and scarier.

“I don’t want to give too much away, but last year the trail was better than we could have imagined,” said SGA Events Chairperson Jessica Wells. “Now that we’ve done it, we want to take it to the next level.”

The haunted trail will open at 8 p.m. Students said they are looking forward to the night.

“This is the best Halloween event we’ve had on campus in the past few years,” senior Stephen Whitney said. “I’m really excited for this year!”

SGA is also bringing back the beloved costume contest.

Students are encouraged to come in costume to compete in the various categories including couples, original and impersonations.

On the celebrity judges panel sits University President Dr. Henry Spaulding and Resident Directors Annabelle Harray and Kristina Van Der Eems.

Senior Jacob Chrysler and junior Alayna De Leon dressed as Pocahontas and John Smith to win the couples competition last year.

Chrysler loves the event and encourages all students to go.

“I enjoy seeing all the costumes and taking in the fall weather,” Chrysler said. “The Groveyard gives us a chance to have some laughs and screams with our friends.”
