Golf seniors will miss competition, friendship

Jaron Brust, Chandler Cook, Andrea Martin, Danielle Shaver and Brittany Smith have been together from the start.

The five of them, now seniors, have competed on MVNU’s golf team since they entered college as freshmen in 2013.

Fellow seniors Zach Arck, Seth King and Nate Spahr have made their ways onto the team within the last three years.

All eight will be hitting the course together for the last time this spring. While they can all look forward to continued time on the green, they know they will miss their teammates and competition of college matches.

Smith leaves with the lowest individual round record (76) in MVNU women’s golf history.

Shaver will cap off 10 years of competitive golf experience at the end of her MVNU career.

“I will miss playing competitively,” she said.

Martin said competing at the college level is a special experience.

“I have really enjoyed getting to play and represent the school,” Martin said.

Spahr said all the seniors have grown in their game. But, “I will miss the friendships the most. The team is amazing,” Spahr said.
