Let your voice be heard

The first Town Hall Meeting for MVNU students will be Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. at Foster Hall in Ariel Arena.

The Town Hall is a way for students to have their individual voices and opinions heard by MVNU President Dr. Henry Spaulding, faculty and SGA members.

“The Town Hall Meeting is a time specifically set aside for students to ask questions, express concerns, and get feedback from President Spaulding and other faculty and staff,” SGA President Jay Zollars said.

MVNU administrators and SGA members said they hope to connect with the student body during this event.

The goal of the Town Hall meeting is to improve campus life. To do that, all parties must work together to find solutions to the various problems that arise, Zollars said.

“The goal in all of this is both tangible and abstract,” he said. “The tangible goal is that we will indeed hear real concerns that produce real change. The goal is abstract in the sense that it lets the students know that the University cares.”

The Town Hall meeting is the place to express concerns to those that have the power and ability to address them.

“Many people show their frustration via social media. But, what they often misinterpret is that we, as a university, truly want to know their frustration,” Zollars said. “No matter how big or how small, it is important.”

Students can get involved in the Town Hall by submitting questions.

Outside the SGA office in Hyson Campus Center is a place for students to write questions, comments and concerns they wish to be addressed at the meeting.

They also can submit questions on the link provided in the campus-wide SGA email. This link will be attached to every email leading up to the event.

Students are encouraged to attend the Town Hall Meeting as there may be time for open mic questions. The administration will also address the questions that are submitted beforehand.

“I believe this will build and allow further and deeper growth within our community in all areas,” Zollars said.
